Dear Neighbor:
As in the past, our military forces continue to serve and die in foreign lands in defense of freedom. On the American home front, the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of individual dreams are at times taken for granted with little thought to the sacrifices made under the banner of freedom.
These freedoms have been honorably defended by tens of thousands of U.S. men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and Iraq. These individuals each had a personal dream, but died before their time so others could be liberated from tyranny.
It is our intention to construct a memorial at Weatherby Lake to honor these brave men and women and insure that they will not be forgotten by future generations. This structure will be located in Weatherby Lake at Birmingham Park on 73rd Street Terrace. The preliminary design calls for a lighted 8' x 3' black granite center column with two 5' white granite side panels. Our preliminary budget for this project is $25,000.
Each of you now have the opportunity to show your appreciation for the sacrifices these people have made to maintain our freedom by helping to fund the construction of this memorial. Please join your friends and neighbors in making this memorial possible by contributing to this community project.
All donations are tax deductible and checks should be made payable to City of Weatherby Lake War Memorial Fund and forwarded to:
City Hall

Thank you.
